Updated Biological Status Review and Summary of the Proceedings of Workshop to Review the Biological Status of the Seagrass, Halophila Johnsonii Eiseman
Published Date: 1997
In September 1993 the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Department of Commerce, proposed adding the seagrass Halophila johnsonii (Johnson’s seagrass) to the United States List of Endangered and Threatened Plants (58 FR. 48326). As a follow-up, in August 1994 NMFS proposed designation of critical habitat for Johnson’s seagrass (59 FR. 39716). Since the original proposal to list H. johnsonii, there have been new field and laboratory observations as well as additional research on species distribution, ecology, utilization, genetics and phylogeny.
