This document is the status review of the Australian gulper shark, Harrisson’s dogfish (Centrophorus harrissoni); it has also been referred to historically as ‘dumb shark’. This status review is in response to a petition1 to list 81 species as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Under the ESA, if a petition is found to present substantial scientific or commercial information that the petitioned action may be warranted, a status review shall be promptly commenced (16 U.S.C. 1533(b)(3)(A)).
