Johnson's Seagrass may have the most limited distribution of any seagrass on earth, known to only occur in lagoons along 200 km of the southeast coast of Florida. It is the first marine plant species to be listed under the ESA. Recovery objectives, based on its threatened status are to: a) prevent the species from declining to an endangered status, and b) delist the species based on the criteria stated at the beginning of this recovery plan.
