Biological Opinion on Biorka Island Dock Replacement Project Sitka, Alaska

Biological opinion on the proposed Biorka Island Dock Replacement Project at Sitka, Alaska, and its effects on endangered and threatened species and designated critical habitat for those species. NMFS Consultation Number: AKR-2017-9693.

This opinion considers the effects of removal and construction operations, and the associated proposed issuance of an IHA. These actions may affect the following species: Mexico distinct population segment humpback (Megaptera novaeangliae), sperm whale (Physeter microcephalus), and western DPS Steller sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus). No designated critical habitat is located within the action area. The nearest designated critical habitat, for Steller sea lions, is Kaiuchali Island located ~1.6 km southwest of Biorka Island.
