Professional History

Katey studies the ecology of ichthyoplankton collected during long-term monitoring programs on the northeast U.S. shelf.  Her research interests include improving descriptions of larval fish taxa for identification; describing abundance, spatial, and temporal distribution patterns; and examining relationships between larval fish and their physical and biological environments.  Katey is also a published science illustrator with a certificate in Natural Science Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design.  Her goal is to create and use visuals to communicate science among scientists and between scientists and nonscientists.
