About
The International Marine Turtle Management and Conservation Program supports conservation, protection, or management actions that promote the recovery of protected sea turtle species with linkages to the Pacific Islands region. These internationally shared species may migrate through, forage within, or be impacted by federally managed activities in the region. They are relevant to NOAA Fisheries’ management and recovery obligations under the Endangered Species Act.
Proposed projects should support one of the following two priority areas:
- Western Pacific leatherback sea turtle management and conservation projects in Indonesia and Solomon Islands
- Sea turtle management and conservation projects within Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Philippines, or Indonesia) and Japan with a focus on fishery bycatch, nesting beach monitoring, poaching reduction, and/or the illegal sea turtle wildlife trade
