Conservation International’s Hawaiʻi Program (CI Hawaiʻi) works across the main Hawaiian Islands to hoʻi i ke kai momona (return to an abundant ocean). Jhana Young, CI Hawaiʻi’s Sustainable Fisheries Program Coordinator, will share how the nonprofit organization uses the power of partnerships to strengthen the viability of the local seafood industry in Hawai‘i. Specifically, they’re working to increase the marketing efforts for an introduced and underutilized species—the bluestripe snapper, known locally as taʻape. Throughout the initiative, CI Hawaiʻi and partners are teaming up to develop new culinary products for these delicious snappers. They will help to support the local economy and increase food security, all while benefiting our ocean ecosystems.
This 45-minute event will be hosted on WebEx and will include interactive elements and a chance to ask questions in real time through a moderator.
