Ryan Rykaczewski, PhD

Supervisory Research Marine Scientist

My research aims to better understand the impact of climate processes—both natural and anthropogenic—on fisheries and ecosystem productivity. By investigating the influence of physical processes on nutrient distributions, the carbonate system, oxygen content, and the structure of planktonic assemblages, I hope to describe the implications of long-term climate changes for the productivity of living marine resources. While my research is often focused on the pelagic ecosystems of the North Pacific, I am always seeking opportunities for comparisons with other systems to better understand the relationships among physics, biogeochemistry, ecology, and human activity.
