Kim Amendola

Deputy Regional Administrator

Kim is a 16-year veteran of the agency, most recently serving as SERO's Communications Supervisor. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing communications and media relations for both the Southeast Regional Office and the Southeast Fisheries Science Center, providing strategic communication support for more than 400 fulltime and contract employees.

She is also no stranger to the Deputy Regional Administrator role, serving in an acting capacity for the position in both 2015 and 2021.

Kim came to NOAA Fisheries with a unique academic and professional background. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Arts in Mass Communications.

Prior to her career with NOAA Fisheries, Kim worked for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for 13 years, the majority of that time conducting fisheries dependent and independent monitoring, and life history studies. She then shifted her focus to communications, bringing fisheries science and management to the public.

Her experience and collaboration working with fishing constituents, the fishery management councils and commissions, the Southeast Fisheries Science Center and HQ offices, and the states from Texas through North Carolina, and the U.S. Caribbean (Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands) will also serve her well in this role.
