Background

Jana received a B.A. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1992. She worked as a Research Associate in the Bekesy Laboratory of Neurobiology at the University of Hawaii then as a Research Technician at the University of Washington. She has been with the Northwest Fisheries Science Center since 1999, most recently as a Biological Science Technician. Her technical expertise includes electrophysiology, molecular biology, tissue culture and immunohistochemistry.

Current Research

Jana's current research projects focus on the effects of contaminants on the health and survival of fish species. Presently, she is investigating the effects of pesticides on behavior, acetylcholinesterase levels and olfactory recordings of salmonid species. She is also involved in a study investigating pre-spawn mortality in coho salmon returning to urban creeks.
