Heloise Frouin-Mouy, Ph.D.

Dr. Heloise Frouin-Mouy joined the Marine Mammal and Turtle Division’s Ocean Acoustics Program as a University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR)-contracted postdoctoral associate. She is helping with density estimation and project management as part of the Open Ocean noise reduction restoration and Restore Science Gulf-wide passive acoustic monitoring projects. Dr. Frouin-Mouy is a marine biologist/bio- acoustician who has worked for a Canadian underwater consulting company (JASCO Applied Sciences) for the last 9 years. She is also a Visiting Scientist at the University of Victoria (British Columbia, Canada) in the Department of Biology. Her current expertise is mostly in marine mammal biology and the analysis of passive acoustic data. She has worked for more than 10 years on the acoustic spatial and temporal distribution of marine fauna (mainly pinniped and cetacean species) notably in the Arctic. Previously, during her Ph.D. and post-doctoral fellowship (at Fisheries and Oceans Canada), she studied the impact of contaminants on the immune system of several marine mammal species.
