Georges Bank Cod Recreational Fishing Measures – Effective July 15, 2022

Framework 63 sets the Georges Bank cod recreational catch target to 75 mt. In order to not exceed this target, Framework 63 also adjusts the recreational measures for Georges Bank cod as follows:

Minimum Size

22 inches

Maximum Size

28 inches

Possession Limit

5 fish per person per day

Closed Season

May 1 through July 31

Open Season

August 1 through April 30

Fishing Year 2022 Catch Limits

Framework 63 sets annual catch limits for 5 of the 20 groundfish stocks. Quotas for the U.S./Canada area are shown in Table 1. The 2022 catch limits are listed in Table 2.  Sector annual catch entitlements (ACE) are shown in Table 3. These quotas replace those that were in effect at the beginning of the fishing year.

Sector and common pool quotas are based on the final fishing year 2022 rosters. The common pool possession limits announced for May 1, 2022, are not changed by this action. After we finalize fishing year 2021 catch information, we will subtract any sector or common pool overages in a separate action, if necessary.
