Inseason action for non-tribal commercial salmon troll fisheries from the U.S./Canada border to the U.S./Mexico border, 2023

NOAA Fisheries has taken inseason action in the 2023 non-tribal commercial salmon troll fisheries from the U.S./Canada border to the U.S./Mexico border. 

  • Effective July 1, 2023: Retention of halibut caught incidental to the commercial salmon troll fishery (U.S./Canada border to the U.S./Mexico border) is extended past June 30, 2023, and remains in effect until superseded.

Permit holders may land or possess no more than one Pacific halibut per two Chinook salmon, except one Pacific halibut may be possessed or landed without meeting the ratio requirement, and no more than 35 halibut may be possessed or landed per trip.
