IB 04-63: NMFS Prohibits Retention of CDQ Reserve Amount of "Other Species" in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting retention of Community Development Quota (CDQ) reserve amount of "other species" in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI), effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, July 31, 2004, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary because the 2004 CDQ reserve amount of "other species" in the BSAI has been exceeded. This action is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(2).

NMFS is requiring that further catches of Community Development Quota (CDQ) reserve amount of "other species" in the BSAI be treated as a prohibited species in accordance with 679.21(b).
