IB 04-40: NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Catcher Vessels Using Trawl Gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands for 72 Hours

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher vessels using trawl gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) for 72 hours, effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), April 10, 2004, through 1200 hrs, A.l.t., April 13, 2004, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the B season allowance of the total allowable catch of Pacific cod by catcher vessels using trawl gear in the BSAI. Other closures remain in full force and effect.

After the effective date of this closure on April 13, 2004, maximum retainable amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
