NOAA Fisheries is requesting nominations for the Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Advisory Panel. Ten seats on the advisory panel are open for 3-year appointments.

The Role of the Highly Migratory Species Advisory Panel

NOAA Fisheries consults with and considers the comments and views of the Highly Migratory Species Advisory Panel when preparing and implementing fishery management plans or amendments for Atlantic tunas, swordfish, billfish, and sharks.

Qualifications

We look for experience in one or more of these areas:

  • Highly migratory species recreational fisheries
  • Highly migratory species commercial fisheries
  • Fishery-related industries, such as marinas or bait and tackle shops
  • The scientific community working with highly migratory species
  • A private, non-governmental, regional, national, or international organization that represents marine fisheries or environmental, governmental, or academic interests regarding highly migratory species

  • Five commercial
  • Three recreational
  • One environmental
  • One academic
