Summary

What is changing?

NOAA Fisheries is transferring 11.3 mt dw of eastern Gulf of Mexico aggregated large coastal shark sub-region quota to the western Gulf of Mexico aggregated large coastal shark sub-region quota. We are also transferring 6.8 mt dw of western Gulf of Mexico hammerhead shark sub-region quota to the Atlantic hammerhead shark management group.

How long will the adjustment be effective?

The transfer will be in effect through the rest of the 2022 fishing season unless we announce another adjustment in the Federal Register (i.e., another quota transfer or a fishery closure).

Who is affected?

This quota transfer affects commercial shark fishermen and shark dealers.
This transfer does not affect recreational fishermen.
