Summary

This amendment would update management reference points, including annual catch limits, for spiny lobster under the Puerto Rico, St. Croix, and St. Thomas and St. John Fishery Management Plans based on best scientific information available from the SEDAR 57 spiny lobster stock assessments and application of the Caribbean Fishery Management Council’s Acceptable Biological Catch Control Rule included in each Fishery Management Plan.

The amendment would also revise the years of landings information used in evaluation of the annual catch limit each year for spiny lobster under each Fishery Management Plan, using the average of the most recent three years of spiny lobster landings to evaluate whether an accountability measure for spiny lobster would be triggered.

The amendment was submitted for review and implementation in September 2022.
