Summary

NOAA Fisheries announces the approval of Amendment 28 to the Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for the Groundfish Fishery of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) Management area, which:

  • establishes three new management districts in the Aleutian Islands subarea
  • amends the Final 1993 Initial Specifications of Groundfish and Prohibited Species Catch Allowances for the BSAI (1993 Specifications)
  • implements amendments to clarify existing regulations

These actions are necessary for conservation and management of the BSAI groundfish fisheries. They are intended to further the goals and objectives contained in the FMP.
