Summary

The retention limit for the commercial aggregated large coastal shark (LCS) and hammerhead shark management groups in the Atlantic region has been increased to 45 LCS other than sandbar sharks per vessel per trip. This action affects directed shark limited access permit holders. 

The adjustment is effective beginning August 16, 2019. 

The retention limit will remain at 45 LCS other than sandbar sharks per vessel per trip in the Atlantic region through the rest of the 2019 fishing season unless we announce another adjustment in the Federal Register or close the fishery.

Retention Limit Adjustment for Large Coastal Sharks for 2020

Fishermen in the Atlantic with Shark Directed limited access permits may retain up to 55 large coastal sharks other than sandbar sharks per vessel per trip as of June 19, 2020.
