Recovery Plan for Lower Columbia River Coho Salmon, Lower Columbia River Chinook Salmon, Columbia River Chum Salmon, and Lower Columbia River Steelhead
The goal of ESA recovery under this plan is to improve the viability of these salmon and steelhead, and the ecosystems upon which they depend, to the point that they no longer require ESA protection.
The core of this plan is a set of goals and actions for each ESU that, if implemented, would reverse the ESU’s decline and lead to recovery of the ESU. Biological recovery for an ESU means that it is naturally self-sustaining and no longer requires the protection of the ESA: enough fish spawn in the wild and return year after year that the ESU is likely to persist in the long run.
