Recovery Action Database

February 10, 2020

Tracks the implementation of recovery actions from Endangered Species Act (ESA) recovery plans.

Recovery plans are based on the best available science and identify the actions necessary to restore threatened and endangered species to a point where they can be self-sustaining in their natural environment. The Recovery Action DatabaseĀ tracks recovery action implementation across all NMFS regions.

Implementation of recovery plans is a learning, iterative, and adaptive process. Comprehensive monitoring and evaluation is critically important to providing information useful in selecting the right actions in the right places and letting us know how well those actions are working. Implementers adjust recovery actions based on monitoring and research results, which highlight how well species are responding to recovery actions and evolving local conditions, to ensure investments are focused on the greatest recovery needs.
