Infographic: 25 Years of Habitat Restoration

August 16, 2016

Did you know we’ve been restoring habitat for more than 25 years? During that time, we’ve restored more than 130,000 acres of habitat—marshes, wetlands, rivers, coral reefs, and more—leading to healthier, more abundant fish.

At NOAA Fisheries, we understand the importance of healthy habitat, which provides important feeding and breeding grounds for fish and other marine life.

Over the last twenty five years, the Restoration Center has helped restore valuable habitat, and develop new and innovative restoration techniques, and brought partners and funding sources together to achieve common goals.

These restoration projects are helping us achieve our goal of rebuilding fisheries and contributing to the recovery of protected species. They are also improving the resilience of coastal communities. Learn more about how habitat restoration leads to healthier, more abundant fish.
