The contest gives American anglers a chance to show their passion for sustainable saltwater recreational fishing. This year’s new and exciting tournament-style contest is now open to the millions of saltwater recreational anglers across the country. The winning submission will receive a weekend of guided fishing in the Florida Keys provided by Bonnier Corporation (lodging included).

In 2020, our winner was Krieger Brasseale from Indiana. He won the fishing trip of a lifetime with an electrifying image of his son coming face to face with the silver king.

The grand prize lived up to its moniker: the pair hooked-up with tuna, amber jack, lane and mutton snapper, cobia, and many more hard-fighting species. It was truly a dream come true for any angler.

The contest builds on the success of #NOAAsFavoriteCatch photo contest in 2020. It is a continuation of our partnership with Bonnier Corp., the organization behind Saltwater Sportsman and Sport Fishing Magazine. Scott Salyers, Fishing Group Publisher at Bonnier Corp. commented, “Last year’s program exceeded our expectations. With so many new and existing anglers on the water in 2021, it will be exciting to see this year’s submissions from people enjoying their passion for saltwater fishing. Adding in the public vote to determine the winner will make this contest truly unique.”

“Saltwater recreational fishing is an economic powerhouse, and engaging with anglers remains a top priority for NOAA Fisheries. We are excited by the opportunity to once again partner with industry leaders Saltwater Sportsman and Sport Fishing,” stated Russ Dunn, National Policy Advisor for Recreational Fisheries for NOAA Fisheries. NOAA Fisheries is responsible for maintaining healthy marine and coastal ecosystems, including sustainable and productive fisheries. “We are committed to maintaining and promoting sustainable public access to fishery resources and rely on private sector partners like Bonnier to help get that message out.”
