Marine Habitat Resource Specialist for Maryland

Jonathan Watson is a Marine Habitat Resource Specialist is part of the Mid-Atlantic Habitat Conservation Branch. Jonathan is currently handling EFH and FWCA consultations and stewardship activities in Maryland and is our representative to the Susquehanna River Anadromous Fish Restoration Committee's technical committee. Prior to working with us as a contractor with Integrated Statistics, Jonathan was with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) working on their Biological Stream Survey. He was also involved in several other research projects at MDNR including the study of recent dam removals in the Patapsco River, evaluating stream restoration projects, standardizing fish habitat evaluation protocols, as well as road salt studies. His first exposure to NOAA Fisheries was working two deployments as a groundfish observer on commercial fishing vessels in the Bering Sea a decade ago. Jonathan received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the College of Charleston and a Master of Science in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Maine.
