Summary

NOAA Fisheries proposes to implement catch requirements for Kona crab in the main Hawaiian Islands, for 2024, 2025, and 2026. These include:

  • An annual catch limit, or ACL, of 30,802 lb
  • An annual catch target, or ACT, of 25,491 lb
  • In-season and post-season accountability measures

This effort supports the long-term sustainability of the Hawaiʻi Kona crab fishery.

NOAA Fisheries welcomes comments on the proposed rule through March 6, 2024.
