Proposed 2024–2026 Hawaiʻi Kona Crab Catch Limits and Accountability Measures
Summary
NOAA Fisheries proposes to implement catch requirements for Kona crab in the main Hawaiian Islands, for 2024, 2025, and 2026. These include:
- An annual catch limit, or ACL, of 30,802 lb
- An annual catch target, or ACT, of 25,491 lb
- In-season and post-season accountability measures
This effort supports the long-term sustainability of the Hawaiʻi Kona crab fishery.
NOAA Fisheries welcomes comments on the proposed rule through March 6, 2024.
